The China Immersion Executive Program is a six day intensive course in Beijing bringing together education leaders and executives from around the world to explore the future of learning and gain an in-depth understanding of the world’s largest education market.

The curriculum combines practical sessions from industry experts and immersive field learning experiences that will see participants visit the boardrooms and innovation labs of China’s most prestigious education institutions, advanced classrooms and some of the world’s largest and fastest moving education technology giants.

This intensive program is designed for senior leaders in education, government, technology and investment with the desire to rapidly understand the Chinese education market, industry structure, trends, opportunities and risks.

Day 1. China. Now and Next

Welcome Lunch. Pickup from hotel at 12pm.

Getting Organised for China. Overview of the schedule and logistics. Program materials will be distributed and ‘China-Ready’ activities will prepare participants for communicating and getting around in China.

Architecture of K-12 Education in China. Deep dive into the structure, curriculum, funding and trends in K-12 education in China, including public and private school systems, foreign/local partnerships, curriculum, technology and policy trends.

Chinese Higher Education System. Structure of the HE market in China, including participation, relationship with other sectors, volume and participation, international engagement, trends and policy environment, funding.

China’s Edtech and Innovation Landscape. China’s booming EdTech sector and ‘afterschool’ education market. Comprehensive market map and analysis of investment activity, market structure and trends.

Refreshments. Participants, faculty and invited guests will mingle over drinks with an opportunity for information Q&A, 1:1 introductions and business card exchange while enjoying one of the best night time views over Beijing.

Cohort Dinner. The cohort will enjoy a classic Peking Duck dinner at a restaurant nearby, joined by faculty, staff and invited guests.

Day 2. Doing Business

Cross cultural strategies for doing business in China. Two-hour workshop explaining key concepts in Chinese culture and the implications for communication, negotiation, people management and doing business in China. Business etiquette and protocols will be covered. Common issues and strategies discussed.

Setting up your education business in China. The pros and cons of partnering, pitfalls, benefits and options for going it alone. Sourcing and keeping Chinese talent.

Legal considerations.  A global law firm specialising in innovation and entrepreneurship will lead a session about entering the China market. Including money matters, company structures, tax and policy issues.

Marketing, Social Media in China. Experts in marketing, branding and messaging in China will walk you through the key channels to market.  Using real case studies, presenters will outline how to build a successful brand strategy and provide an overview of digital media in China.

Education Entrepreneurship in China. Hear from entrepreneurs in China about what it takes to succeed in the world’s largest and most competitive education and technology market. Investors will summarise the market and entrepreneurs will relate their successes, failures, learnings and advice for entering the China market.

Day 3. Global Giants

New Oriental. Visit the headquarters of China’s largest provider of private educational services currently with over 2m students and USD$2.4b revenue. Hear from senior executives about their business model, growth, challenges and opportunities.

TAL Education Group. One of the leading K-12 afterschool tutoring service providers in China, TAL has more than 10k staff and revenue of $1.7b USD. TAL is an active investor in education with a portfolio of 100+ companies. Visit the impressive facilities and hear from the TAL international development and investment teams.

Youdao at Netease. Experience lunch in the staff dining room of one of China’s largest internet companies. Youdao, the education brand under NetEase, develops and operates mobile applications and invests in EdTech and games solutions. Following lunch, Youdao CEO will outline his company’s education strategy and investment thesis.

VIP Event – GET Summit. Join 150 VIP’s at the GET Conference opening event. Mingle with Chinese and international education leaders, EdTech CEOs and Investors. Exchange business cards and set-up 1:1 meetings for the following days.

Day 4. Global Summit

VIP Pass to China’s largest and most international EdTech Summit
The Executive Program will join morning sessions of China’s GET Summit & Expo with concierge support including VIP seating and exclusive access to the EP lounge to host private meetings.

Keynote Speakers at GET include founders and CEO’s of leading education innovation companies. Hear about their business models, growth plans and uses of technology in their business. Visit the Expo and arrange private meetings.

Afternoon onsite briefings from China’s Unicorns

17zhouye is one of a handful of EdTech Unicorns. The company offers a multi-platform K-12 homework solution that is in sync with the textbook curriculum and enhanced by data analytics. We will visit 17zhuoye headquarters and hear from their investment and international team about their platform, pricing, business model and investment focus.

VIPKid is one of China’s largest EdTech startups and is now valued at over US$3b. The company delivers online English language training by connecting 60k English-speaking teachers from western countries, with 500k Chinese students. We will hear from VIPKid management and gain an insider’s perspective on the business model and deployment of technology.

Global Education Investment Dinner. Hosted by Global Investor Tyton Partners, participants will join an invitation-only dinner of investors, entrepreneurs and those who have been working in China for decades. Make meaningful connections for your future work in China.

Artificial Intelligence is the theme of Thursday morning’s conference. Learn how Chinese education companies are incorporating AI into their business operations and learning solutions.

Evaluating your China options and building a roadmap

In the final workshop of the EP, participants will synthesize learnings from the program and, using a strategic choices framework, build a 90-day plan for further evaluation and engagement in China.

The people that you will meet during the Executive Program represent the future of their industries and countries, and are working on projects that have the potential to reshape the way the world works.

Program participants will meet leaders and innovators in China’s education market and their teams who host EP participants at their campus, headquarters or boardroom. From CEO’s to international development teams, investors, entrepreneurs and consultants, participants will have unique access to those who are operating in China’s education market. Formal and informal settings on the Program provide many opportunities to make meaningful connections.

Executive Program FAQ

The Executive Program includes:
EP Tuition and Program Materials
Site visits, Cultural tour, Organised Events
GET VIP Conference tickets and events
Most meals through the program.
Transport for Program activities, including airport pick up / drop off;
Pre- and in- Program logistical support

The Executive Program does not include:
Airfare to/from Beijing
Chinese Visa costs
Hotel Accommodation (Preferred accomodation at discounted rates will be provided)

Applications are considered on the basis of the fit between the Program and the applicant’s experience and seniority, objectives for the program and ability to contribute to the cohort. The overall diversity of the cohort is also taken into account.

Applications are considered on a rolling basis and will be assessed within 10 working days of receipt.

Each application will be assessed individually. However, should 2 or more people from the same organisation be accepted onto the program, a group discount will be applied.

Favorable rates at a 5-star hotel in a district convenient to the EP will be negotiated for Program participants.
