Maura Pally

Executive Director at Blackstone Charitable Foundation

Maura Pally is the executive director of the Blackstone Charitable Foundation. Situated within the world’s largest alternative asset manager, the Foundation leverages Blackstone’s global network and resources to foster career mobility and economic opportunity. Ms. Pally executes on this mission by managing the Foundation’s two signature programs: Blackstone LaunchPad and Blackstone Connects. LaunchPad supports first-generation and low-income students with career skills training and access to paid internships across Blackstone, its portfolio companies, and select startups. Blackstone Connects provides the firm’s 4,800 employees across 27 global offices with volunteer and giving opportunities. Additionally, Ms. Pally launched BXImpact, which supports Blackstone’s 250+ portfolio companies to develop and grow their own charitable efforts through education, program collaboration, and strategic support.

Ms. Pally joined Blackstone from the Clinton Foundation, where she held numerous roles, including Executive Director of Hillary Rodham Clinton’s Office,  Executive Vice President, and Acting CEO. Throughout her tenure, she worked closely with President, Secretary, and Chelsea Clinton to ensure the Foundation’s programs aligned with its purpose: to develop solutions and leaders prepared to tackle the world’s most pressing challenges. She launched three new programs focused on women and girls, early childhood development, and the skills gap, and oversaw the Foundation’s domestic and international projects, including the Clinton Global Initiative – an annual gathering of 10,000 public, private, and nonprofit partners benefiting more than 5 million people worldwide.

Prior to the Clinton Foundation, Ms. Pally managed the education portfolio at Bloomberg Philanthropies, where she also helped oversee operations as the organization distributed $370M.

Previously, she served as acting assistant and deputy assistant secretary at the U.S. State Department Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. There, she managed 450 employees and a $635 million annual budget to foster diplomacy through exchange programs. This included leading the flagship Fulbright Scholarship Program and building new exchange programs, such as smARTpower, which supports visual artists, and TechWomen, which supports women in technology careers.  

Ms. Pally also served as deputy counsel for Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign, research director for Hillary Clinton’s 2006 senatorial campaign, and special assistant to the president’s deputy counsel in the Clinton White House.

Ms. Pally sits on the board of the Clinton Foundation. She holds a bachelor's from Brown University and a J.D. from the University of Southern California.
