Arun Natarajan

Associate Provost for Institutional Research & Institutional Effectiveness at Rice University

Arun Chandran Natarajan is an experienced institutional research and business intelligence professional with nearly two decades in the field. Before taking on his current role in 2023, he served as the Assistant Vice Provost for Institutional Research at Johns Hopkins University.

Arun began his career at Johns Hopkins in 2011, holding roles as a software engineer, senior programmer, and analyst before advancing to director-level positions in institutional research and IT. Over the years, he played a key role in developing a centralized institutional research database used for compliance reporting and strategic decision-making across the university.

His work spanned diverse areas such as diversity reporting, postdoctoral statistics, master's student debt analysis, faculty salary benchmarking, doctoral program evaluations, and research expenditure dashboards. He also led efforts to redesign the institutional research website and collaborated with various departments to launch and analyze major campus surveys.
